Four Home Trends from the Grand Tour of Homes 2016

Thinking of building or remodeling? The Grand Tour of Homes is a fun way to see what’s trending in new home construction. We have listed for you four home trends we spotted on the tour this year.

Trend One – Shiplap

We have no doubt this trend comes to us from Waco, Texas’ Joanna Gaines and we love it! This material showed up on walls, ceilings and fireplaces.

Trend Two – Reclaimed Wood

This trend is still going strong. Reclaimed wood was being used on the floor, as accent walls, fireplace mantels and furniture. Our favorite was the reclaimed horse farm fencing used as flooring.

 Trend Three – Subway Tile

Subway tile is still very popular this year whether it’s a kitchen backsplash, shower walls or fireplace surround and it isn’t just white. We are seeing the grays and blues that have been so popular on the walls make its way to subway tile in beautiful new finishes.

Trend Four – Oversized Lighting

We absolutely love the large scale light fixtures we are seeing over kitchen islands, in the master bedroom, and even in the powder room! These are some lovely fixtures…

Would you consider implementing any of these trends in your space? We would be happy to help you with your next project whether it’s residential or commercial.
